Today was a huge travel day for us! We set our alarms for 5:30am to get to the airport. We each had a roller bag and a backpack — and that’s it! We had a very late boarding group, so anticipated having them take our roller bags and gate check them, and they did! We offered right away and then used that as an excuse to ask them to find a way to have us sit together since our assigned seats were apart. It worked like a charm!

We had a layover in Atlanta which went very smoothly and then it was off to San Francisco. The flight went fast and soon enough we were getting our rental car and zipping to our Airbnb. We planned on stopping at a grocery store first to pick up supplies and then I had also arranged for a Whole Foods pickup. Navigating the streets of SF had a bit of a steep learning curve. They rely heavily on stop signs rather than traffic lights and sometimes the road doesn’t necessarily go straight through an intersection. Instead it will sort of veer off to the left or right.

Our Airbnb is a private bedroom in a shared house. This isn’t the norm for us, but since SF is so expensive, it seemed like a good idea since we really liked the hostels we’ve stayed at before. Turns out we are sharing the place with two guys from India who are here for a few months to work on their software startup. It was awkward at first, but once you sort of talk a bit and pass each other a few times in the kitchen, you get over it!
