I wanted to give “experiences” to Grammy and Grandpa for Christmas this year since they have so many items that they need or want already. I turned to Groupon for inspiration and found a half day sailboat experience right out of Fort Myers Beach. It sounded perfect so I made it my gift to Mark as well and bought it.
Well, as life has a way of working, it took us all the way until April 23rd for us to actually find a weekend that worked for the boat trip! Luckily it was an (almost) perfect day to be on the water. The only thing that would have been better would be more wind — but considering how blustery the weather was leading up to this weekend, we were grateful to have the calm seas that we did.
When we arrived at the location we tracked down the Captain and hopped on the boat. We spent a few hours just sailing along the shores of Fort Myers Beach, listening to his stories of surviving Hurricane Ian on his boat (yikes!!) The day was very slow-paced and sort of forced us all to sit back and relax, which was a blessing!
